Your headline shouldn't just say: “Looking for new opportunities.”
Tell us what you actually do. “National Account Manager | FMCG | Grocery & Convenience” is considerably more searchable.
Include keywords naturally
Recruiters search using words associated with the vacancy.
For an FMCG commercial role that might include National Accounts, Grocery, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Convenience, Wholesale, Food, Drink or Consumer Goods.
For operations, it could include Production, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Supply Chain, CI or Lean.
Use terminology that genuinely reflects your experience.
Complete your employment history
You don't need to paste your entire CV onto LinkedIn. But tell us enough to understand your career.
Use the About section
This is your opportunity to sound like a human. What do you specialise in? What have you achieved? What parts of your job do you particularly enjoy?
Build your network before you need it
Connect with people in your sector: recruiters, former colleagues, customers, suppliers and industry leaders.
Your professional network becomes significantly more useful when you've built it over years rather than the day you decide you want another job.
Be visible
You don't need to become a LinkedIn influencer. Occasionally comment on industry news, congratulate somebody, share something interesting or talk about your area of expertise.
It reminds your network that you're there. And sometimes your next opportunity finds you before you've even started looking.
